Dynamic Couples Show Off Simple Style
By Melissa Arens
For the month of February we’re highlighting hip couples in Fayetteville, with not only a great original sense of style but exciting involvement in our community.
Celi Birke and Zeke Holiman: Started dating their Junior year in high school and recently celebrated their 6th year dating anniversary. Zeke is a student of economics at the UofA and plays in a local progressive metal band called “Eyes of Iron.” Celi works her dream job as a graphic designer at DOXA a local firm in Fayetteville. She has also been shooting fashion photography for several years and enjoys assisting Mallory Berry at MGB photo.
When asked about where their sense of style came from and some of their favorite wardrobe pieces, Celi and Zeke responded:
Celi: “Admittedly I shop online way more than in town.” Currently wearing a ton of Madewell and J. Crew. When shopping locally, Celi enjoys Maude and Greydog. Wearing any classic pieces with clean lines.
Zeke: Zeke’s style is very simple and basic. Comfortable cotton tees with Levi’s. He shops at Banana Republic for everyday wear and The Independent, whom he feels has beautiful clothing with really friendly service.
Claire Arellano and Brandon Kindred have been smitten with each other for three years now, and were engaged to be married a year ago. They moved from Denver, Colo., to Fayettville last September after having their sweet baby girl Eva Louise, to be closer to family in the area.
Claire has worked as a paralegal for the past seven years in Denver and is a certified yoga instructor with a love for ballet and Ariel fabrics. She currently stays home with her 6-month-old daughter Eva Louise (most important job of all!). Brandon is a leasing professional at Alliance in Denver and Greystar in Rogers, and is about to make a career change to recruiting for J.B. Hunt. In his spare time he enjoys DJing, dropping late night beats throughout Denver’s thriving underground dance scene, and is currently working on getting booked in Fayetteville.
When asked about where their sense of style came from and some of their favorite wardrobe pieces, Claire and Brandon said:
Claire: I like affordable places like T.J. Maxx who have high-end brands and quality clothing for less. She also enjoys the occasional Goodwill trip. Her style is classic, sporty and comfortable. She’s always able to end up in the crow pose if need be.
Brandon: “I think my style evolved from being fascinated and involved with b-boy culture as a kid. I got into break dancing which evolved into DJing later on. I like the old school styles so I’m more of a T-shirt and sneaker guy and I love zip up hoodies and track suits.” Enjoys T.J. Maxx shopping as well as threadless.com.
