The sights of INspire Eco Salon and Spa in Fayetteville are like many styling studios in the area. The sounds of laughter and chatter, hair dryers and a friendly receptionist remind one of many salons of the past. The only noticeable difference is the smell, which doesn’t burn your eyes or tickle your nostrils. In fact, there aren’t many strong smells at all.
That’s because at Eco Salon they use organic products created for the client who seeks a more natural, healthy experience. Yes, the chemicals are still there, but they are lighter, less harmful. Their mission is being more environmentally and health conscious then their competitors. To do this, they partner with a brand called Intelligent Nutrients, to bring clients products using organic materials versus petroleum-based chemicals.
Another partner their taking on is one outside of the styling industry, but that works to also spread a message of a healthier world. Seeds That Feed is a project aimed at fighting food insecurity in local communities through CareCropping — a term they devised to describe the collecting and donating of fresh produce to those who don’t usually have access to it.
Their past projects have made a huge statement in NWA, with people amazed at the thousands of pounds of food they’ve donated to local food pantries; along with their outreach projects to youth and adults alike. They decided several years ago that the surplus of fresh produce that goes to waste each year could be better put to use as food for those in need. So with some community support, and many long hours, they’ve collected donated food from local farmers and merchants and taken it to area pantries.
Seeds That Feed is partnering with Eco Salon on Dec. 7 for a fundraiser that will help fund future projects and help to continue their mission into 2014 and beyond.
INspire Eco Salon and Spa will host the Holiday Green Carpet Event at their salon at 675 N. Lollar Ln. in Fayetteville, offering discounts on their gift cards and a tour of their salon, as well as information about Seeds That Feed. The event will also feature local area artisans selling their goods, just in time for the holiday season. The event runs from 5 – 8 p.m. For more information on the event, visit goo.gl/9G60Aq.
