It’s half-past midnight and things are going well, even better than expected. But, guess what? You’re out of condoms. Never fear, Abshire’s to the rescue.
Abshire’s Neighborhood Store, a new convenience store in downtown Fayetteville, will deliver the goods right to your door. And, if you don’t want your squeeze to know that you’ve just phoned in for prophylactics, order some Zapp’s, maybe a frozen burrito, vitamin water, or a can of beans. Heck, just order your groceries for the week.
The store is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. (yes, a.m.) and delivers from noon to 2 a.m. It’s not sexy or fancy, it’s simple and carries necessities like that milk you forgot to buy for your 1 a.m. bowl of cereal.
Ryan Abshire opened the store last month in the Quonset hut on the Frisco Trail, just a few feet north of Center Street. Located between Bike City and The Striped Pig, Abshire’s obviously stands behind “Keeping Fayetteville Funky.” The cigarette selection is housed in the door of an old refrigerator hanging behind the checkout counter while the rest of the fridge does duty as a recycling bin.
Abshire’s has drinks, snacks and a small stock of almost anything a cyclist or walker on the trail would want. The store also stocks things for the neighbors like dairy items, canned and baking goods, frozen foods, cigarettes, a few household items and even some Star Wars toys.
