One of Fayetteville’s finest beer festivals is slated to return this weekend to the downtown square.
In its fifth year, Fayetteville Foam Fest will be hosting more than 85 breweries and more than 300 styles of craft beers from around the country, state and world alongside live music and regional food trucks at the Fayetteville Town Center and plaza at 15 West Mountain St. The festival is Saturday, May 7 and will go from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
General admission tickets are $40 and grant you access to the festival along with a 5 ounce souvenir sampler glass (which is mandated by law). There’s also the $20 option to be a designated driver and attend for unlimited hand crafted root beers and sodas in the D.D. lounge, in addition to the food and music. Dogs aren’t allowed at the festival, however.
New this year is the Cycling Brewery Tour, which is just as it sounds. Cyclist beer lovers can register for $30 in advance or for $5 more onsite to enter into a specialized beer run via bike. Starting at north Fayetteville and ending on the square, the tour involves hitting up all of the bike-trail adjacent breweries along the way. With registration, riders receive a limited edition silicone 12 ounce cup and special deals on food at the participating breweries. The starting point, The Bike Route, offers bike rentals for those without bikes looking to participate.
There’s also going to be a brewer’s dinner this year the day before the festival on May 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. also at the Fayetteville Town Center. Chef Mike of the Chancellor Hotel and 64/94 Bistro and several breweries will be pairing a few of their well known brews and some “small batch” ales with gourmet cuisine. Tickets are $55.
This year’s music entertainment will be The Squarshers, a local bluegrass/jamgrass group who have been jammin’ hard since 2015 and features a few members of Foley’s Van and John Henry Holthus.
As for the food trucks onsite, this year there will be Mellow Mushroom Pizza, Baller and Feltner Brothers.
A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Apple Seeds, Inc., and Ranger’s Pantry pet food bank.
