No Trick, It’s Good
Beer O’ The Week: Pranqster
Pranqster delivers fresh good humor
Wamp’s Wisdom
Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale from North Coast Brewing Co. in Fort Bragg, Calif., pours a bright golden with a fleeting head. Aroma is floral with notes of citrus and bubble gum. Taste is sweet but tangy like canned oranges with honey. The finish is lingering with a slight tickle from the 7.6 percent alcohol content.
This is a tasty Belgian ale from a brewery that has yet to disappoint. Favorites Acme Pale Ale, Red Seal and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout come to mind when I think of North Coast Brewing Co.
Pair with fresh fruit and mild cheese.

Rico’s Reaction
No joke, Pranqster is a damn fine beer.
Pranqster smells and tastes as fresh and vibrant as some of the wet hops-style beers we’ve tasted — like someone managed to bottle the potency of freshly cut flavors or recently mowed hay field. It has a nice middle level of hops with just a bit of citrusy sweet. And at 7.6 percent alcohol, this is one very relaxing drink, one that would be a perfect reward after a hard day’s work.
Wamp is correct about North Coast Brewing. It’s been as reliable as Avery and Sierra Nevada
I paired Pranqster with some leftover Habanero Rain chicken wings from Foghorn’s and a viewing of the 1975 British film “Vampyres” aka “Daughters of Dracula.”
