Fall crafts blend tradition with innovation

The War Eagle Fair is the granddaddy of ‘em all, turning 63 next week.
The third annual HeART of Rogers Craft Fair may be the newest, combining art for sale with guided tours of two historic buildings.
Artists will exhibit 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 20-21 on the first floor of the newly restored Haas Hall Academy at 121 W. Poplar St. in what was once the Historic Lane Hotel. The Haas Hall Academy Parents and Faculty Counsel will be giving tours of the building from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 20 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 21. Artists will also exhibit work during the same hours in the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church at 307 W. Elm St., and church members will provide tours of the beautiful stained glass in the sanctuary.
“This art and craft event brings an exciting component to downtown Rogers by offering upscale, handcrafted products that appeal to the widely diverse interests of Northwest Arkansas locals as well as the vast influx of regional tourists,” says Brenda Hester of the Rogers Downtown Partners. “The HeART of Rogers Craft Fair consists of juried artisans and designers who exemplify the best in creativity, diversity and individuality.
“Proceeds from this event enhance marketing and events hosted by the downtown Rogers merchants’ association, GoDowntownRogers.com.”
