Five Funnies at JR’s on Monday
A live five-man standup comedy show is coming to JR’s on Monday night. Headlining will be rising star Chris Cubas from Austin, Texas, who will be joined by comedians Cameron Buchholtz, also of Austin; John Tole of Dallas; BradChad Porter of Oklahoma City; and Fayetteville’s own Ray Porter.
Cubas, who has been featured on SXSW and FunFunFunFest, is a regular on the Altercation Punk Rock Comedy Tour.
He is multi-time finalist in the Funniest Person in Austin contest. Amp Magazine described Cubas as: “Brimming with more than a healthy dose of ‘what the hell is wrong with you people?!’ angst, Chris calls to mind Lewis Black’s societal rants combined with Richard Pryor’s deadpan delivery style. In other words, he’s a true original.”
Buchholtz is a regular at comedy clubs across the country and has done theater shows with the likes of Doug Benson and Todd Barry, rock clubs with Michael Ian Black and Neil Hamburger, and festivals such as FunFunFunFest and the Norman Music Festival.
He is the host of the weekly interview podcast ‘CB Radio’ interviewing some of the big names in comedy and pop culture.
Tole regularly tours with Ronnie Mund Block Party Tour. He has written and contributed to the Miserable Men radio show on Sirius Satellite Howard 101.
He can also be heard on Howard 100, Sirius Raw Dog Channel 104 and on his weekly podcast, “John Tole’s America.”
BradChad Porter co-founded a weekly open mic comedy show at a club in Norman, Okla., and two years ago started his own weekly showcase/variety show, “Mondays Don’t Suck,” in Oklahoma City.
In addition to his standup work, his podcast and blog, he acts in small independent film productions and is a founding member of the comedy troupe “The Celibates.”
Ray Porter, has been cutting his teeth at the U-Ark Bowl comedy nights and should be able to hold his own among the better-known names on the bill, making NWA proud of the emerging comedy scene here.
Doors open at 9 p.m. door for a 10 p.m. show. Ages 21 and up, with a
$3 cover.
