Big People And Names For Winter Comedy

Staff Report

UARK Bowl is starting their 2013 winter comedy season strong by showcasing well-known, brutally honest, Arkansas native Ralphie May. May will perform to a sold-out audience on Jan. 17 starting at 8 p.m. with what he said is all new material that can’t be seen on his fourth and latest one-hour special “Too Big To Ignore.”

“People are nervous my show will be the same as my specials. I stop doing all the material as soon as the album is released,” Ralphie May told The Free Weekly. “People in NWA, we don’t make a lot of money. If they spent their money to see me I want to make sure they had a good time.”

Growing up in Clarksville, May is no stranger to Northwest Arkansas, although he said he feels like it after being gone for over six years. He hasn’t been wasting his time though. May has acquired a huge fan base and much recognition from the comedy world after his appearance and second-place win on Last Comic Standing, a platinum CD “Just Correct,” and guest spots on ESPN, Jimmy Kimmel Live and others.

May’s show may be sold out, but other comedians coming to town this season will offer similar comedic experiences with their own personal flare.
